FANUC America, a leader in industrial automation and robotics, has significantly expanded its presence in Michigan with the unveiling of a new state-of-the-art facility. The 650,000 square foot West Campus in Auburn Hills represents a $110 million investment, bringing FANUC’s total Michigan footprint to over 2 million square feet.
This expansion is part of FANUC’s strategic plan to advance industrial automation in North America. The new campus, built on 67 acres, includes advanced manufacturing capabilities for customized automation systems and a expansive warehouse housing over 6,000 robots ready for quick delivery.
Since 2019, FANUC America has invested more than $187 million in North American facilities, including a 461,000 square foot North Campus in Michigan and new headquarters in Mexico and Canada. This growth has led to the creation of over 400 new jobs in Michigan alone during this period.
The company’s commitment to the future of automation extends beyond physical infrastructure. Plans are underway to transform a former law school on the West Campus site into the FANUC Academy, set to become the largest corporate robotics and industrial automation training facility in the United States.
FANUC America’s President and CEO, Mike Cicco, emphasized the importance of this expansion in supporting customers with cutting-edge robotic and automation solutions. He highlighted the critical role of training in keeping North American manufacturing competitive, as advanced automation requires new skills.
The grand opening of the West Campus featured remarks from state and local officials, including representatives from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Auburn Hills leadership. These dignitaries praised FANUC’s ongoing investment in Michigan and its contribution to the state’s economic development strategy.
FANUC’s robotics and automation solutions serve a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, agriculture, consumer products, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and warehousing. This expansion reinforces FANUC’s position as an industry trailblazer and demonstrates its commitment to driving efficiency across various sectors.
